Eurostat: The North of Albania has more cars per capita than the South and the center

Northern Albania is the poorest region according to official statistics, but the trend is entirely different when it comes to car ownership.

Eurostat has published data on motorization rates across European regions for the year 2022. According to the data, in Northern Albania, the motorization rate is 260 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants, the highest in the country.

In the central region, there are 226 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants, and in the South, 212 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants.

In comparison with other European countries, Albania has the third lowest motorization rate in Europe.

According to Eurostat, in 2022, there were 226 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants in Albania, placing us third with the lowest rate for this indicator, only behind Kosovo (182 vehicles per 2021) and Turkey (169).

Meanwhile, in the European Union, in 2022, the average number of passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants in the EU was 560.
