As LETA was informed by the Presidential Chancery, Vejonis pointed out that much has been done on the global scale in recent years, including the signing of the 2015 Paris Agreement, which is the most important global environmental protection and climate change agreement ever signed.

''These are important achievements, but the most important is to implement what has been agree upon. Latvia support Macron's calls for more effective and coordinated action between countries to implement the Paris Agreement and other international environmental protection agreements,'' Vejonis said.

At the same time, the president expressed confidence that current global environmental challenges far exceed national borders, which is why the only way to deal with these challenges is to work together in a coordinated matter.
