Storm Emma: Swans 4-1 West Ham is the only major Welsh sports match

Swansea City's 4-1 home Premier League win against West Ham United was the only major sports fixture involving Welsh teams to go ahead on Saturday.

Cardiff City's Championship game at Brentford fell victim to the weather.

The Brentford pitch failed a Friday pitch inspection as games were called off across the Football League.

That followed Cardiff Blues, Ospreys, Scarlets, Newport County and Wrexham weekend games being postponed.

Blues, Ospreys and Scarlets games against Benetton, Zebre and Leinster respectively were postponed due to wintry conditions and travel issues.

Saturday's Ebbsfleet United v Wrexham and Newport v Accrington Stanley football games are postponed.

Friday night's Cardiff Devils v Manchester Storm Elite League ice hockey game was also off. The game will now be played on Wednesday, 21 March.

Celtic Dragons' trip to Manchester Thunder in Netball's Superleague, which was scheduled for Saturday, has also been called off.

Scarlets v Leinster has been rearranged for Friday, 9 March while Cardiff Blues v Benetton will now be played on Friday, 16 March.

Connah's Quay against New Saints, Llandudno v Newtown and Carmarthen Town v Aberystwyth Town in the Welsh Cup quarter finals fell victim to the weather as has Prestatyn Town v Barry Town in the Welsh Premier League.

Merthyr Town's home game against Chesham United in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League was also off and Colwyn Bay's game at Droylsden was postponed.

Devils want Challenge Cup win

Devils hope their Challenge Cup final against Belfast Giants on Sunday at Ice Arena Wales will go ahead.

The Devils and Storm match has been rearranged for Wednesday, 21 March.

Scarlets' Pro14 match will be held against Leinster on Friday, 9 March, while Blues will host Benetton seven days later.

Two games in the Welsh Cup were postponed with Connah's Quay and TNS and Llandudno v Newtown falling by the wayside.

In the Welsh Premier League, Prestatyn and Barry Town has been called off.

In rugby, all WRU National Cup quarter-finals was postponed, as was Pontypridd v Carmarthen in the Welsh Premiership.
