Members of the Kosovo opposition crossed a line when arguing about their country’s border, and set off tear gas in parliament.
The Self Determination Movement party unleashed the gas in the southeastern European country’s legislature on Wednesday, and successfully delayed a vote they are opposed to.
Lawmakers were set to pass a bill that could ratify a border agreement with Montenegro, though the Self Determination Party says that it would cause Kosovo to lose 20,000 acres.
The tear gas caused leaders to evacuate the building in the capital of Pristina.
Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008, is seen as a potential addition to the European Union, and the EU has said that the deal with Montenegro is necessary in Kosovars want to get visa-free travel.
The deal needs a two-thirds majority to pass the parliament, and it is unclear if it will after the tear gas stunt.
