Ramla, Hondoq and Marsalforn beaches in Gozo awarded Blue Flag statusRamla Il Hamra, Hondoq and Marsalforn beaches in Gozo have once again been awarded the Blue Flag status.

The International Blue Flag Jury of the Foundation for Environmental Education International (FEE) in Copenhagen has awarded the Blue Flag to 11 beaches in Malta and Gozo. On basing their judgement, the jury also took into account measures put in place to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.Ramla, Hondoq and Marsalforn beaches in Gozo awarded Blue Flag status It was noted that in Malta and Gozo these restrictions were followed correctly in a manner to ensure the health and safety of those who visited the beaches and bays.

In Malta, the beaches are: Ghajn Tuffieha, Golden Sands, Ghadira Bay, Bugibba perched Beach, Qawra Rocky Beach, St George’s Bay, Fond Ghadir and Westin Dragonara Beach.Ramla, Hondoq and Marsalforn beaches in Gozo awarded Blue Flag status Blue Flag International recommended the National Operator to look into the opportunity to start the Blue Flag programme for marinas similar to other EU countries.

During its season, and when it is opened to the public, as long as the national health measures are in place and it complies with all other Blue Flag criteria, the site can fly the Blue Flag.
