A search is underway in Galway after reports of a person in danger after entering the River Corrib.
Rescue teams have been deployed to find the person as emergency services are also said to be at the scene on Tuesday evening.
Concerns have been raised as a helicopter has been seen scouring the city centre over the course of the evening since around 5pm.
A post on social media read: "Report coming in that someone entered the river Corrib in Galway in the last hour. Rescue Helicopter R115 on route from Shannon. Emergency services at the scene."

Elsewhere gardai have rushed to an Irish Rail train stopped along the Galway to Dublin line after an issue on board.
Irish Rail/Iarnrod Eireann issued a notice at 2:55pm on Tuesday 11 February 2025 that the 1:05pm service remained stopped at Tullamore and that Gardai were on their way.
Irish Rail's social media team updated the public over the stoppage, confirming it was a "passenger issue onboard". They also confirmed the train remains stopped at the station at this time.
Irish Rail/Iarnrod Eireann issued the notice on Tuesday 11 February: "The 13:05 Galway/Heuston service is currently stopped at Tullamore due to a passenger issue onboard. This service is stopped, awaiting the arrival of the Gardai. Update to follow."
