Lower house approves flexible labour code amendments
The Chamber of Deputies has approved an amendment to the Labour Code, introducing several changes, including a longer probationary period for employees and a notice period that begins immediately after notification. The amendment also revises unemployment benefits, increasing them to 80% of net earnings in the initial months, but reducing them to 40% in the final months.
The bill, designed to increase flexibility in the labour market, passed with 153 votes in favour and none against. It will now be forwarded to the Senate for further review.
The proposed law on termination without cause sparked the most debate, with only MPs from the Civic Democratic Party and TOP 09 voting in favour.
