Change in the Republic of North Macedonia is inevitable. The public wants a cleansing of the system and accountability. This was stated by the Ambassador of North Macedonia H.E. Agneza Rusi Popovska.
"This is not the first tragic case in the country, there have been others, but not on such a scale. There are serious grounds for the existence of corruption. Macedonian society wants a cleansing. It wants a change in the work of the institutions so that they work more fairly," the ambassador told bTV.
She stressed that the citizens want corruption to be eradicated and those responsible for the tragedy in Kochani to be held accountable. "There must be a ruthless fight against all corrupt practices," Ambassador Popovska added. According to her, this is exactly what the government in Skopje has promised to do.
The diplomat thanked all Bulgarian institutions and ordinary citizens for their help and solidarity in this difficult moment for the country.
On 16 March, 59 people died and 155 were injured in a fire at the Pulse disco in Kochani. 14 of those injured in the tragedy are currently being treated in Bulgarian hospitals.
Today, Bulgaria has declared a Day of National Mourning in solidarity with our Macedonian brothers. I BGNES
