A full list has been published confirming all the Solihull roads set to be resurfaced

More than 90 roads are set to see improvements across Solihull in the coming year.

Solihull Council has set out its planned highways maintenance programme for the coming financial year - with more than £18 million worth of general road improvements planned.

The authority is responsible for the public maintenance of around 500 miles of public highway valued at £1.4billion.

In the latest financial year to 2026 the highway asset management investment plan (AMIP) is to repair around 15 miles of roads and 1,097 potholes.

Further work includes the inspection of 25 bridges, replacement of 97 lamp columns and the installation of 11,000 street light nodes which control them.

The AMIP has projected revenue funding of just over £9million and assumed capital funding of just under £9.5 million for the coming year.

Revenue funding is council core funded with the capital funding from various sources.

The government has announced an extra £500 million for highways maintenance this financial year and Solihull Council has received £1,384,435 of capital government funding.

Councillor Ken Hawkins, the environment and infrastrucure cabinet portfolio holder, approved the funding and plan at a decision session meeting earlier this year.

During that meeting Dean Ward, head of service highway infrastructure at the authority, explained there was a three year plan for carriageway surfacing across the borough.

“We can’t serve all roads, all the time, every year,” the officer said.

“We simply don’t have that funding or resource to deliver that - but we do look at a risk based approach where we deliver our resurfacing.”
