There is significant interest in investing in Bulgaria, President Rumen Radev told journalists on Thursday during his participation in the 10th edition of the Delphi Economic Forum in Greece. “We have all the necessary conditions and opportunities. I expect the Government to finally address these important issues because the Bulgarian economy is waiting to be seriously revitalized. Preconditions must be created. Parliament must function properly to establish the necessary legal framework so the executive can act accordingly,” Radev said.

President noted that this is yet another forum where Bulgaria reaffirms its position as a respected and sought-after neighbor, partner, and ally. “Bulgaria continues to establish itself as a factor of stability in the Balkans. In recent years, we have become strategic partners with Greece, and our joint projects contribute to the region’s security, stability, and prosperity. Bulgaria’s role is genuinely appreciated here,” he added.

The forum covers a wide range of topics—from geopolitics to economics, investment, and artificial intelligence. “The most important message I conveyed was that Bulgaria has always been, and will continue to be, an integral part of Europe. For centuries, we have contributed to Europe’s civilizational development through our culture and achievements in various fields—and this will remain true in the future,” Radev emphasized.

Commenting on the US decision to delay some of its high tariffs, Radev highlighted the importance of Europe's unity on the issue. “You probably heard yesterday’s statement by the new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, who clearly said that Europe will remain united in its response. He welcomed the 90-day postponement of the tariffs. More importantly, Merz stated that work is underway to eliminate tariffs altogether between the US and Europe. That is the best possible outcome. I believe common sense will prevail because everyone loses from protectionist policies,” Radev said.

During the forum, President Radev met with his Greek counterpart Constantine Tassoulas. Both leaders addressed the forum participants on Wednesday. Radev also held talks with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.

This year's Delphi Economic Forum is on from April 9 to 12. Some 800 speakers from 70 different countries around the world will take part, organizers said. Among the topics to be discussed will be democracy and institutions, defence, economics and finance, culture, education, energy, demography, infrastructure, healthcare and others.
