A thief who burgled a Huddersfield home stole a £10 note from a birthday card - but didn't touch electrical items.

The burglary took place on Link Road, which is just off Luck Lane at Marsh, on Wednesday January 9.

West Yorkshire Police said the suspect or suspects had snapped a Euro profile lock on the front door and then carried out an untidy search of all drawers and wardrobes.

They stole the £10 note and six crystal wine glasses, but left electrical items untouched.

The following crimes were reported to police in the last two weeks:

Ashbrow

January 9 at noon: Suspects entered a house on Sheepridge Road by smashing the boarded-up door with a stone. Silver paint was sprayed on the kitchen worktop and taps turned on, causing damage. An electric gate and its box were stolen.

  • A thief stole a radiator left in a garden during refurbishment work.
  • A Skyjet motorbike was stolen.
  • A gas meter was stolen from outside a house.
  • Radiators were stolen from a garden.

December 26 at 11.30am: A motability scooter was stolen from a car park on Manchester Road.

December 27 at 5.30pm: A thief removed stone from a wall on Clough Road at Bolster Moor and put it in his van.

December 27 at 9pm: A mobile phone was stolen from a storeroom at premises on Low Westwood Lane, Linthwaite.

January 1 at midnight: Burglars broke into a house on Dirker Drive, Marsden.

January 4 at 6.30pm: Keys to a Land Rover Defender were stolen in a burglary at White Hull Farm, Blake Lea Lane.

  • Front and rear number plates were stolen from a Ford Focus.
  • A handbag containing debit card, driving licence, keys and mobile phone was stolen. It was later recovered by the owner.
  • A large amount of Yorkshire stone flags were stolen from a property.

Crosland Moor and Lockwood

January 8 at 11.40am: Cash and jewellery were stolen from a house on Frances Avenue after the thief snapped a Euro lock on a back door.

January 11 at 7pm: Items were stolen from a house on Winton Street after the suspect broke in by a back door.

January 12 at 2am: Cash and sunglasses were stolen from a Toyota Prius on Balmoral Avenue.

* 13 more crimes were reported in the Crosland Moor area but the victims did not want the street name disclosed.

  • Burglars stole jewellery and a back door key after getting in through a bedroom window.
  • Thieves got into a house and then stole an Audi A1 and an Audi A3. Both were later found with false plates and recovered by police.
  • A mountain bike was stolen from a detached garage.
  • Cash and a dash cam were stolen from a Peugeot 107.
  • A dash cam was stolen from a Kia Sportage.
  • Tools and a dash cam were taken from a Ford Focus.
  • A sat nav and some shoes were stolen from an unlocked Volvo XC 60.
  • Debit cards were taken from an Hyundai 120.
  • A mobile phone and cash were taken from an insecure vehicle.
  • An umbrella was stolen from an Audi Q3.
  • Photographic equipment was taken from a Land Rover Freelander.
  • Property was stolen from an Audi A6S.
  • A Volvo C90 was entered and searched but nothing taken.

Dalton

January 7 at 11am: A padlock was ripped off a shed door on Long Lane. Nothing was stolen.

January 7 at 12.30pm: A TV was stolen from a house on Briarfield Gardens. The thief got in through an unlocked door.

January 8 at 2.15pm: Computers, an iPad, phone and DVD were taken from a house on Long Lane after thieves smashed a rear patio door.

* Four more crimes were reported in the Dalton area but the victims did not want the street name disclosed:

  • A Vauxhall Corsa was taken from a car park, possibly using keys lost by the owner.
  • A car was broken into but nothing taken.
  • Items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle at a building site.
  • A thief stole a £400 mobile phone from the victim's handbag as she walked down the street.

Golcar

* The following eight crimes were reported in the Golcar area but the victims did not want the street name disclosed:

  • A vac and jewellery were stolen in a house burglary.
  • Money was stolen from a Ford Focus.
  • An attempt was made to get into a Nissan car.
  • A Seat Leon was stolen and then involved in a crash.
  • Suspects entered a Nissan car but nothing is believed to have been stolen.
  • Plumbing supplies and machine tools were taken from a Peugeot van.
  • A stone flagstone was taken from a property which has been hit before by stone thieves.
  • Stone slabs were loaded onto a vehicle and taken away.

Greenhead - Fartown

January 9 at midnight: Paving stones were taken from a garden on Spaines Road, Fartown.

January 9 at 7.15am: A thief broke into a house on Link Road and stole £10 from a birthday card after searching all drawers and cupboards. They also stole six wine glasses. Electrical items were left untouched.

January 10 at 12.30pm: A purse was stolen from a house on New North Road by a person who asked to use the phone.

A thief entered a room in a shared property and stole property.

Money was stolen from a Honda Civic by two suspects who made off unseen.

An Audi A1 was taken without consent and later recovered by police.

Cash and food were stolen from a Ford Mondeo.

Tools were stolen from a Citroen van.

Cash, wine, food, bedding and children's clothing were stolen from a Ford Mondeo and a Nissan Micra.

Assorted footwear was taken in a house burglary after the thief drilled the lock in the front door.

A TV and a phone charger were stolen in a house burglary.

Numerous items of clothing and shoes were stolen in a house burglary.

Holme Valley North - Meltham

November 5 at 3.07pm: A safe was stolen from a bedroom of a house on Hebble Mount, Meltham.

Holme Valley South - Holmfirth, Upperthong and Holmbridge

December 30 at 6pm: A Land Rover discovery on Haddingley Lane was damaged in a possible attempt to steal it.

December 30 at 10pm: A safe was stolen from an office at premises on Greenfield Road.

December 31 at 6pm: Jewellery, foreign currency and a mobile phone were taken from a house on Shawfield Avenue.

December 31 at 6pm: Cash and jewellery were stolen from a house on Woodhead Road, Burnlee. The burglar got in through an open bedroom window.

January 1 at midnight: Headphones, handbags, jewellery and a mobile phone were stolen from a house on Fairfields Road, Holmbridge.

January 1 at 12.30am: Three laptops, a holdall and jewellery were stolen from a house on Broad Lane, Upperthong.

A log book was taken from an insecure Citroen C1.

A Ford Transit was entered but nothing taken.

An attempt was made to get into a Citroen van.

Items were stolen from a Ford Transit van after thieves forced open the rear doors.

Kirkburton and Denby Dale - Lepton and Flockton

January 4 at 2.15am: Three tractor batteries were stolen from a garden on Botany Lane, Lepton. They were later discarded at the bottom of the garden.

January 5 at 6pm: An attempt was made to break into a house on Beckside, Flockton. The alarm was triggered.

Hand tools and commercial tools were stolen from a community centre.

A chainsaw was taken from a Mitsubishi L200 by a thief who smashed the front windscreen.

A Paxton flatbed trailer was taken from a yard by a thief who drove through four fields and cut through a barbed wire fence.

Lindley - Salendine Nook

January 6 at 2.30pm: A suspect cut a hole in a safe and stole cash and other items after entering the baptist church on Moor Hill Road at Salendine Nook.

A possible attempted distraction burglary took place by the victim refused to leave the house.

A suspect removed a padlock from a shed but nothing was taken.

A radio and power tools were stolen from a Vauxhall Vivaro van.

A thief tried to force open a key safe cover but without success.

A purse and other items were taken from a Ford Focus.

A parcel left at the reception of a block of flats was stolen by someone who entered the office.
