Fiona Jagelewski, 16, of Southampton, and Kincardine’s Gillian Clarke, 11, will join hundreds of other dancers from all over the world.

Jagelewski, now competing at the Champion level, attributes her strong foundation in Irish Dance to years spent with Mary Foley at the Port Elgin-based Celtic Academy Canada.

Both dancers now train several three times weekly with the Doyle Corrigan Academy, which includes “Riverdance” performers.

Both girls qualified for the North American Irish Dance Championships at the Eastern Canada Oireachtas in Toronto last year.

“The competition is going to be high in Vancouver, and I would be very pleased if I made the recall,” Jagelewski said.  Recall signifies placement in the top half of the field.

Clarke said she’s excited to dance with competitors from all over the world.
