Thousands to rally against Hassan Rouhani, call for end to impunity of Tehran leaders
Artistic street play on 11,000 protests in Iran in a year

What: An elaborate artistic street play, symbolizing the 11,000 protests across Iran over the past year, will be performed during the rally of thousands of Iranian-Americans outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

Simultaneous with the debate at the United Nations General Assembly, the protesters will condemn the presence of the Iranian regime’s president Hassan Rouhani in New York to address the UN. The Iranian Americans will highlight the abysmal state of human rights in Iran, calling for an end in executions in the country and to the impunity of Tehran’s leaders as well as calling for justice for the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.

Who: Joe Lieberman, former Senator from Connecticut, John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and Robert Torricelli, former Senator from New Jersey, are among the speakers.

Why: More than 3,100 people have been executed in Iran during Rouhani’s tenure, including dissidents, women, minors, and ethnic and religious minorities. Tehran’s nefarious regional conduct and ballistic missile tests are continuing unabated. Nationwide protests by the Iranian people are on the rise, as they seek a free Iran.

The rally, sponsored by the Association of Iranian Americans in New York, a member of the Organization of Iranian American Communities – US, www.OIACUS.org, coincides with the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. The UN Secretary General has highlighted the massacre in his most recent report as new evidence implicates regime’s leaders, including current Rouhani cabinet ministers, as key players in the massacre that has never been independently investigated.

When: Wednesday, September 20, 2016, 11:00 AM
Where: Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (2nd Ave & 47th St), United Nations, NY

1717 Pennsylvania Ave NW Suite 1025 Washington DC 20006 202-780-8572 info@oiac.org
