French diplomat highlights new era in relations between Angola and France

Luanda, ANGOLA, July 16 - Angola and France have opened a new page of their relations and their common history, thanks to a special relationship established between the leaders of both countries, said the French ambassador, Sylvain Itté, Saturday in Luanda.,

Speaking on the occasion of the National France celebrations Day, marked every year on July 14, Sylvain Itté stressed that there is now an "excellent dynamic of cooperation" between the two states, which "have decided to work together at bilateral and multilateral" levels.

The diplomat underlined that the Angolan President, João Lourenço, "Knew how to establish" a special relationship with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, which allowed the two countries "to initiate a continuous and close dialogue in various political, diplomatic and strategic areas."

"We shared, on many regional and international issues, the same analysis and we have decided to work together bilaterally and multilaterally," said the French diplomat.  

He added that "our economic cooperation is strengthened every day" and he hopes that many French companies will choose Angola as a destination for their development in Africa.

Sylvain Itté stressed the importance of the speech delivered by President Lourenço last week in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, where the Angolan statesman "precisely recalled the need to work together."

He said that he believes that Angola can play "a primordial and positive role" in the elaboration of a new relationship between the two continents, "and that" France will be available on his side in this mission. "

President João Lourenço's visit to France was his first official to Europe since his inauguration as Angolan head of State in September 2017.
