Florida businessman Steven R. Pietro shares support for troubled veterans as homelessness figures continue to rise.

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, USA, December 24, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- According to figures from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, upwards of 40,000 U.S. veterans are estimated to be homeless on any particular night, with a further 1.4 million veterans in the country considered at risk of homelessness, according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. Here, law graduate and businessman Steven R. Pietro reveals he and his company's support for homeless veterans as well as addressing insufficient affordable housing, a lack of adequate and available support networks, alcohol and substance abuse, and serious mental health issues among veterans.

"The percentage of homelessness among veterans has risen greatly in recent years," reveals Pietro, "such as in Palm Beach, for example, where the number of homeless veterans is estimated to have increased by as much as 70 percent."

Assisting veterans who suffer with alcohol and substance abuse, mental health issues, and medicine management in an effort to help curb many of the problems associated with homelessness, Pietro is also working to aid in job creation for veterans. "Many people will give $10 to a program or agency and think it will make an impact," he reveals. “And while that may be admirable and even generous we think that this problem has exacerbated to an almost crisis mode and to mitigate the damage requires a more grass-roots, hands-on approach.”

“To do a selfless act that requires only a desire to reach out and help a Veteran and to see the smile on her or his face is all the reward I need, personally," Pietro adds.

Steven R. Pietro is owner and founder of Justice Government Supply, Inc., a Native American service-disabled veteran owned business proudly serving the women and men of the U.S. armed forces with a complete catalog of the finest steaks, roasts, select butcher chops and more across the globe.

Homelessness among veterans in the U.S. is largely tied to unemployment, as Pietro explains. "Unemployment among veterans is a complicated matter," he says, "whereby military occupations and training, at times, fail to translate well directly into civilian workforce positions."

"As a result," he continues, "it's not unusual for veterans to find themselves at a disadvantage when seeking employment beyond the military, despite largely unrivaled standards of discipline and commitment, as well as corresponding work ethics."

Pietro also points out that homelessness among veterans often has additional underlying causes and effects. "Thrust back into an unfamiliar way of life," he explains, "veterans often struggle to reintegrate which can lead to issues surrounding mental health and well-being, making finding work difficult, and contributing to an unfortunate prevalence of substance and alcohol abuse among veterans."

Accordingly, Steven Pietro wishes to further assist in supporting and finding valuable, skilled work for veterans, something which he says affords many veterans a feeling of purpose, a healthy source of income, and, as a result, helps to prevent against unnecessary cases of homelessness.

Currently, law graduate and businessman Pietro is seeking to drive employment opportunities and facilitate work for veterans via strategic partnerships with local, often also veteran-owned businesses and organizations. "These partnerships," he adds, wrapping up, "shall also seek to address issues pertaining to affordable housing and look to highlight the importance of understanding the many social challenges often faced by our country's incredible veterans in the process."
