In response to the New York Attorney General’s motion to hold Nexus Services in contempt of court, the company’s CEO Mike Donovan vows to protect clients’ data from the Trump deportation machine, and vows to do so at all costs.
New York, NY., January 10, 2018 - Today, in the matter of Libre by Nexus pending in the Supreme Court of NY (Manhattan division), attorneys for the company will fight the NY Attorney General’s reckless attempt to seize personal immigrant data they don’t need, and according to their own pleadings in the Southern District of NY, data they also cannot protect.
The NY AG filed a motion to hold the company in contempt of court. Mike Donovan, Nexus’ CEO, said “The New York Attorney General appears to be more interested in scoring cheap political points than in protecting a vulnerable immigrant community. Their own filings in State of New York v. United States Department of Justice admit that they are powerless to stop the Trump administration from seizing any immigration data they have on their citizens”. In spite of this, the AG is attempting the single largest data grab of personal data of immigrants in removal proceedings in the history of the United States.
