Minister of Foreign Affairs in Antananarivo

Luanda, ANGOLA, January 19 - Angolan Foreign minister Manuel Augusto, in representation of the Head of State, João Lourenço, will attend on Saturday the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, who won the last December presidential election.,

Andry Rajoelina obtained, in the second round of the presidential election, 55.7% of the votes against 44.3% of Marc Ravalomanana.

According to a statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the head of the Angolan diplomacy travelled to the Malagasy capital after taking part last  Thursday in the meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)’s Double Troika in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which analyzed the post-election situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

After Antananarivo, Manuel Augusto will attend the 6th African Union / European Union Summit on 20-22 January in Brussels, Belgium, according to the document.
