Pål Jonson to attend NORDEFCO defence ministers meeting in Rovaniemi

SWEDEN, May 5 - On 6–7 May, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will travel to Rovaniemi in northern Finland to take part in the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) defence ministers meeting.

Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen will host the meeting. Areas of focus will include matters related to NATO, the Nordic countries’ continued support to Ukraine and the EU’s White Paper for European Defence – Readiness 2030, which was presented by the European Commission in March 2025.

In 2025, Finland is chair of NORDEFCO, which consists of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. A key focus of Finland’s chairmanship is continuing to implement Vision 2030, NORDEFCO’s joint vision that sets out the direction for continued Nordic defence cooperation until 2030.
